How can I get the chlorine out of my daughter's hair?
My daughter’s hair is damaged from the chlorine in the swimming pool at our local pool. Hers isn’t the only one. We (other moms and myself) are all trying to find solutions or products to repair their hair. Her hair is now very dry and brittle, hard to comb, etc. I have purchased a salon "swimmers shampoo and conditioner" that is suppossed to take the chlorine out. I also have a salon hair repair treatment (I can’t remember the name) that seems to be helping. Some of the things we have tried are showering before entering the pool and making sure her hair is really wet (I was told that would help). My hairdresser even told me to put conditioner in her hair right before she gets in the pool, but I feel bad to do that because I know that’s not good for the filter, etc. I also tried washing her hair in white vineager.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Her hair has alwasy been so soft and beautiful, but lately it’s a mess.
Thanks
People have mentioned this to management. They insist the chlorine levels are correct and the problem is Ph balance. They are however working on remedying the problem.
I love the idea of a swim cap and mentioned this to her, but you know how girls can be. If everyone else isn’t wearing them, she wants no part of that!!! I tried to tell her she could start a new trend — didn’t work. — Thanks

Well I have the same problem because I have been on a swim team for 7 years. I take baking soda and mix it with a shampoo for taking chlorine out of hair and miz it together and let is sit for a few minutes and then rinse and shampoo reguraly and condition. Also try Paul Mitchell number 3. It works great but smells kinda bad. Trust me this works. Try it. Good luck!
Use a swim cap!!! I was on a swimming team for 14 years and still swear by them. If you get her hair wet (in the shower, NOT the pool) and put it into a bun they’re really easy to put on. You should be able to find one at Wal-mart.
EDIT–I also used to use a hot oil treatment or a tiny bit of mayo (yes the kind from the fridge). The mayo takes a few good washings before it rinses out all of the way but it really helps.
just keep washing your daughter’s hair with the swimmers shapoo and conditioner and the chlorine should come out
try washing it every day then conditioning
I’m 17 but I used L’oreal kids Swim and Sport shampoo and it worked great for me. It made my hair soft after the chlorine made it feel gross. I also used kind of a lot though because I hate chlorine. That’s all I can recommend sorry if you don’t want to try that because you’ve already tried other shampoos.
go to a CVS. There is awesome shampoo and conditioner just for after pool usage!
anti-chlorine shampoo and conditioner if your summer plans include a lot of pool time. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner a few times a week to combat any dryness caused by daily exposure to the sun.
dont worry! put a little conditioning on! if her hair goes green, which can happen frome chlorine, this is strange but ketchup works really well to turn it back to its normal colour.
try the loreol swimmers hair shampoo i used it in my hair when i was young …it gets the smell out out mosidter in it and my hair was blonde so it stoped it from turning green
